Rising Herb Farm Gardening Class - Spring Ephemeral Plant Walk

$20.00

Join me at Rising Herb Farm on Saturday April 4th from 10am-12pm for a walk through Rising Herb Farm’s woods and rewilded areas to enjoy our native spring ephemerals! Spring ephemerals are woodland wildflowers who only appear this time of year, before the trees canopy has fully leafed out above them. Examples include Yellow Trout Lily, Dutchman’s Breeches, Bloodroot, Spring Beauty, Cutleaf Toothwort, Rue-anemone, and Celandine Poppy.

This two-hour class includes an introduction to spring ephemerals native to Indiana, with special emphasis on woodland wildflowers present at Rising Herb Farm. Students will go on a plant walk led by Staci through many areas of the farm, spotting and identifying ephemerals as we go. Interesting folklore around each wildflower will be included!

Each registered student will receive one free herb or native seedling of their choice to take home with them!

Date/Time: Saturday April 4th from 10am-12pm. PLEASE NOTE: Spring epehermal wildflowers are heavily reliant upon the weather. The first week of April is a very safe bet for many ephemerals being ready to enjoy in our climate. If weather conditions have delayed the appearance of spring ephemerals in our area, this class will be postponed until the plants are ready. Please be prepared to be flexible! :)
Location: Rising Herb Farm (5957 N Candlestick Corner Rd, Centerpoint IN 47840)
Cost: $20 per person, which includes the class itself and a free plant
Class Size Limit: 25. Recommended for adults and older children. This class includes a plant walk through moderately hilly woodland terrain. A path has been made, but natural leaf matter and humus is present. Students should wear good walking/hiking shoes and anticipate walking up- and downhill.
Registration Deadline: March 30th
Notes: This class is rain or shine! All class materials will be provided, as well as water and snacks. Rising Herb Farm’s farm stand with dried and fresh herbs, plants, tinctures, and other magical offerings will also be open to shop before or after class. There is ample parking in our drive and a port-a-potty on site if needed. The cost of class is used to purchase supplies in advance, so we cannot provide a refund for any reason unless the class is cancelled. In the event of inclement weather, this class will be rescheduled for a later date.

Please send an email to risingherbfarm@gmail.com if you have any questions about this class or would like to request accommodations to make your attendance more comfortable. We are very happy to hear from you!
